    Career Development Solutions website

Getting a job in the current economic climate is difficult and many people are poorly prepared for searching for a job, putting together a resume, the process of submitting resumes, and putting your best foot forward in the event of an interview. Integrated Media Strategies recently turned over a new website to a group who will be actively engaged in helping people with this process.  The site, called Career Development Solutions, uses one of the new Top Level Domains or TLDs dot.solutions for the Fish Out Of Water group.

The group, headed by Vanessa Cogdell, are all professionals with a long history of working with people being reskilled and in the area of career counselling, career coaching and related expertise.  The site will provide a way for interested people who are either interested in preparing for a career shift or those searching for work to get the help they need to be competitive in a competitive job marketplace.

  • Joomla Help - how to create a link in text

b2ap3 large Help instructionsI originally created this help topic to assist members of the Experimental Aircraft Chapter whose site I created and manage.  Many of the members are older and were insecure about creating content on a website.  To foster engagement, HELP instructions demystifies the processes they use.  After all, if they are capable of following the instructions when building a kit aircraft, they can do so when posting to a website.

This page provides information about how to post a link in text on a Joomla site page using the TinyMCE text editor

  • Progress on Advanced Manufacturing Alliance site

b2ap3 large NCAMA icon for Perspectives CopyIntegrated Media Strategies has been assisting the Advanced Manufacturing Alliance for the past few months with their branding and helping them establish their communications infrastructure.  The alliance's website made a significant leap forward at the end of August, with the addition of most of the content to the site.

The alliance is an ambitious initiative using $18 million in DOL funding to significantly upgrade the quality of training for the advanced manufacturing industry in North Carolina.  It comprises 10 community colleges offering a range of certificate, diploma, and associate degrees aimed at producing graduates who can be hired by companies using advanced manufacturing for their products.  The website acts as an important bridging tool for the 10 community colleges, which are scattered statewide across North Carolina, as well as a powerful marketing tool for the state and a recruiting site to students interested in a career in advanced manufacturing.

  • Years of work at risk

b2ap3 large Clipboard01A communications project with which Integrated Media Strategies was involved for four years is at risk.  The visibility our communications afforded the initiative attracted more than $1.2 billion in new investments and expansions to North Carolina in the advanced manufacturing sector and helped create more than 6,000 new jobs.  You could have read about it on the website, but the website is down, returning a Fatal error.

At the heart of the project was a website that supported the advanced manufacturing training departments of 10 community colleges. The statewide training initiative showcased the specialized equipment, close collaborations with industry, instructor credentials, and technical curricula.  It also provided successful examples of how graduates and students were placed as interns in the workplace at facilities across the state. This information gave industry a risk-free method to find candidates for advanced manufacturing positions - a win-win for both candidates and industry. In the same way as complex multi-axis machine tools need maintenance, so too do websites based on database-driven content management systems.
